    The successful applicants must:
  • Be fluent users of New Zealand sign language;
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Deaf Bilingual/Bicultural issues;
  • Have a knowledge of their local Deaf Community;
  • Be able to empathise with and be sensitive to issues involving staff, students and parents (both deaf and hearing);
  • Be comfortable delivering NZSL tuition via technology e.g. Zoom/ Skype
  • Be able to work and communicate effectively as a team member in a variety of educational settings
  • Be enthusiastic, diplomatic, approachable and have a good sense of humour.
  • Pass police vetting as per the Vulnerable Children's Act.

Prior experience as a tutor or trainer is preferred but not essential

Role 1 is a Part-time, Remote NZSL Tutor (0.4 FTE) This position could be based anywhere in the van Asch region delivering NZSL tuition via Zoom and 'Go-React' The fixed term period will be from the beginning of Term 4, 2019 to the end of Term 1, 2020

Role 2 is Full-Time and based in Dunedin (1.0 FTE) The fixed term period will be from 25th November 2019 until August 2020
