Ko Taku Reo is the name and identity of a new organisation set to launch July 2020. It will provide deaf education and support services delivery across the whole of New Zealand. This new organisation will incorporate Kelston and Van Asch Deaf Education Centres. The merger process is underway, and you will be joining a close-knit team and you will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education and services to deaf community and whanau we support.

This is a new role based around fully supporting the Executive Principal. You will develop a high-level understanding of the organisation's strategic and operational plans and procedures and at times be involved in trouble shooting and supporting improvements. You will also be asked to provide support for organisational governance. To provide leadership of a team of Director's Assistants through the organisation and ability to understand and back up their roles from time to time. As well as working directly with the Executive Principal, you will be an important support to the broad leadership, and will be:

  • Undertaking all the usual tasks to organise and plan the working life of the Executive Principal and the office
  • Providing support to other Directors and Leaders personally and through your direct reports
  • Able to understand and meet the reporting requirements of the Ministry of Education and other statutory bodies
  • Representing the Executive Principal from time to time as briefed and directed
  • Maintaining and refining office systems
  • Ensuring security and privacy of information
  • Developing and maintain a good knowledge and network across education
    About you
    You will obviously love variety and a challenge but also have:
  • Proven experience as a Senior in administration and preferably PA/EA roles
  • Previous effective leadership of direct reports
  • Experience in most of the areas described in the Job Description but quick to pick up others
  • A passion for improving and streamlining related processes
  • Exceptional ability to work collaboratively
  • Proven ability to think and act strategically, creatively and focus on solutions
  • A friendly and cheerful manner even during periods of pressure and a sense of humour that helps you cope well
