Kelston Deaf Education Centre provides educational pathways and support for deaf and hard of hearing students.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Learning Leader based in Auckland. Your key focus will be responsibility for the professional development of our teaching staff who support the learning and wellbeing of our students of all ages. Your support will ensure that the teachers’ practice is kept up to date with current and emerging educational technologies in line with the New Zealand Education Curriculum and Digital Technologies Curriculum.

The Digital Learning Leader is a leadership position which builds on the pedagogies of teaching staff to ensure that they are confident and capable of using current and emerging educational digital learning tools for authentic teaching and learning. An ability to communicate enthusiasm for innovations and creativity in the use of digital technologies in the contemporary learning environment is essential.

    You will:
  • Have extensive experience in setting up synchronous communication and asynchronous platforms to support our teachers and learners in urban and rural locations.
  • Work collaboratively with our colleagues in the South Island Deaf Education Centre, van Asch.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of New Zealand Sign Language as many of our staff and learners are NZSL users.
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Be a people’s person who can encourage, develop, and build capacity of all teaching staff in their understanding and practice of the effective use of digital technologies.
  • Develop professional working relationships with other educational technology service providers.
  • Be responsible for coordinating the acquisition and delivery of IT related items to ensure our learners have equitable access across our service area.
  • Travel to our various service provisions.
